(New York City) – Career Gear, a not-for-profit organization that has helped disadvantaged men nationwide with professional attire, interview skills, career counselling, and job retention programs, recently accepted Micah Laaker as a member of its Capital PerSuit ’04 benefit committee.

Mr. Laaker, known for his proselytizing (whether for himself, DealNews, Apple, Mike Mignola, Nebraska, Justin Timberlake, SVG, and others), was asked to join the committee to apply his zeal to something that would provide a measureable benefit to those struggling to reenter the workforce.

To help raise funds for the charitable organization, Mr. Laaker is seeking both individuals and corporations to attend/sponsor Capital PerSuit ’04, the group’s annual fundraising benefit. The event will be held Wednesday, March 24, at Times Square’s impressive NASDAQ MarketSite. Attended by many young professionals in the business, fashion, and design communities, the event serves to raise both the profile and funding abilities of Career Gear.

"As we all know, the economy hasn’t been treating many of our talented and educated colleagues too kindly over the past two years," said Mr. Laaker. "For those trying to reenter the workforce, whether fresh from incarceration, drug rehabilitation, or other scenarios, getting back on track can be a difficult process. Career Gear has helped more than 10,000 men since 1999 by giving them the tools they need, both suits and interview skills, to remain competitive in an ever-increasingly sparse job pool."
